Bad Dates featuring Elizabeth Aspenlieder with special guest Vikki True.
By Theresa Rebeck
“And then I realize, in this sort of strange, hallucinatory moment, that the bug guy is looking kind of good, and the things he's saying about bugs are really kind of fascinating and it is then that I realized that maybe it has been too long since I've been on a date.” Bad Dates
Elizabeth Aspenlieder reprises her one-woman tour-de-force performance as the indefatigable Hayley Walker from S&Co.’s 2010 hit production of Bad Dates by Theresa Rebeck (SMASH, Poor Behavior, Law & Order, Broadway’s Seminar with Alan Rickman). A hilarious and heartbreaking story Bad Dates follows a single mothers idiosyncratic journey of self-discovery which involves the Romanian mob, a Buddhist rainstorm, a teenage daughter, over 600 pairs of shoes, and a few very bad dates. Highlights of the evening will include interwoven music provided by the BSO’s Tanglewood Music Center Fellows, directed by Michael Gandolfi (Composition Head of the TMC), and local singer Vikki True, who will join the production with an array of soul stirring melodies that will support the production. True will then take center stage for a short set of some of her classic R&B/Jazz standards.
